Bernt Dahl has passed away

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bernt Dahl, founder and longtime director of Kentaur.   Bernt was not just a leader. He was the heart and soul behind our company. Over the past 35 years, he built and developed Kentaur from a one-man business into a leading name in the European workwear industry. His passion for innovation and functionality has left a legacy – not only within Kentaur but across the industry as a whole.  - We are shocked and deeply saddened by Bernt’s passing. I had the privilege of working alongside Bernt for over 30 years. He was an exceptional leader, mentor, and partner. His ability to inspire, listen, and bring out the best in others made him truly unique. His absence will be deeply felt, both professionally and personally, says Christian Beirholm, Kentaur’s Commercial Director.  Despite this immense loss, Kentaur remains a resilient and forward-focused organization.  - Our plans for 2025 are well established, and we are prepared to carry forward Bernt’s vision. We are a strong and united team, supported by a competent executive leadership group and a dedicated board. Together, we will ensure Kentaur’s continued growth and success, says Mie Krog, Chairman of Kentaur’s board.  Lars Bundgaard, lawyer and board representative, emphasizes that plans are in place to guide the company through this transition. - We are now implementing the contingency measures Bernt helped shape, ensuring that Kentaur continues to operate in the spirit of his leadership and dedication to excellence.”  Our deepest condolences go to Bernt’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.   May his life and legacy be honored and remembered.  Questions about the above should be directed to Chairman of the board Mie Krog at [email protected] or +45 53781606.

Rasmus Munk Chef, Restaurant Alchemist, Copenhagen I had the chance to take part in creating our uniforms together with the designer form Kentaur, and I’m very happy with the results. Apart from looking smart the material is breathable with a lovely light feel to it which makes it very pleasant to work in. The apron solution that eliminates the need for straps feels very liberating. Performing at the front line. undefined Have your logo or name embroidered onto your workwear Made for people. At work. Application These sales and delivery terms and conditions apply to all agreements entered into between Kentaur A/S (hereinafter Kentaur) and the buyer, unless Kentaur has accepted another basis for agreement in writing. Quotations, Orders & Acceptance Unless otherwise stated, quotations are valid for 60 days from the date of the quotation. Buyer's orders and purchases are only binding on Kentaur once the buyer has received written order confirmation. If Kentaur's order confirmation does not correspond to the buyer's order, the buyer must complain immediately after receiving the order confirmation. Otherwise, the buyer is bound by the order confirmation. All correspondence (order confirmation, delivery advice, invoice, etc.) will be conducted via email unless otherwise agreed. Kentaur's Delivery Kentaur's delivery includes only the products specified in the order confirmation, and Kentaur undertakes to deliver products of usual good quality in terms of materials and workmanship, as specified in these conditions. Kentaur is entitled to deliver up to +/- 5% of the agreed quantity for special models and/or special raw materials. Product information, illustrations, drawings, and technical data such as dimensions, materials, etc., in catalogs, brochures, or other advertising materials from Kentaur, are for guidance only. All intellectual property rights, drawings, sketches, technical specifications, etc., are the property of Kentaur and may not be copied or transferred to third parties without prior written consent from Kentaur. The delivered products may not be manufactured, imitated, or transferred to third parties for this purpose either. Delivery Condition The place of delivery and delivery terms are specified in Kentaur's order confirmation. If the delivery terms are not specified in the order confirmation, the delivery term is Ex Works Kentaur's business address (as per Incoterms 2010). Prices Prices are stated in order confirmations and price lists. Kentaur reserves the right to adjust prices with 30 days' notice in case of changes in exchange rates, material prices, production costs, labor costs, transportation costs, customs duties, or other circumstances beyond Kentaur's control (as mentioned in the "Force Majeure" events). If the delivery is changed or Kentaur's costs are increased due to the buyer's actions, Kentaur is entitled to increase the price accordingly. Kentaur reserves the right to correct obvious errors in price lists, quotations, and order confirmations. Unless otherwise agreed, an expedition fee of 50 DKK per order is charged for orders under 1,500 DKK. This does not apply to orders via MyKentaur self-service. Payment Terms Unless otherwise agreed in writing or stated in the order confirmation, the payment terms are monthly + 14 days net from dispatch from stock. If payment is not made on time, Kentaur is entitled to interest on the amount due from the invoice date at a rate of 1.5% per month. The buyer is not entitled to set off any counterclaims that Kentaur has not acknowledged in writing. Kentaur reserves the right to withhold ordered and confirmed goods if there are outstanding items that have not been paid or if the total outstanding exceeds the approved credit maximum. Reservation of Title Kentaur reserves ownership of the sold goods until the entire purchase price plus accrued interest, costs, etc., are paid to Kentaur. Delay If the delay in delivery is due to a force majeure event or the buyer's action or omission, the delivery time is extended accordingly. In case of delay, the buyer must immediately complain in writing. Otherwise, the buyer loses any rights to default due to the delay. In the event of delay, Kentaur can never be liable for loss of profits, loss of earnings, lost profit, or other indirect losses. Kentaur's liability for damages can also never exceed the invoice price excluding VAT for the part of the delivery that is delayed. Creditor's Default Interest If the buyer, after the delivery time has occurred, fails to collect/receive the products or instructs shipment, Kentaur is entitled to store and insure the performance at the buyer's expense and to send an invoice for the delivery. If the buyer fails, despite written request, to collect the products, Kentaur - even in cases where the products are specially manufactured according to the buyer's instructions or specifications - is entitled to sell them on the best possible terms for the buyer's account. The buyer must also reimburse Kentaur for the amount representing the difference between the agreed price and the realized price to the third party, as well as all other costs incurred by Kentaur due to the buyer's default. Defects & Complaints The buyer must immediately inspect the delivery upon receipt to ensure that it is intact and in accordance with the agreed terms. Kentaur must receive any complaints within 14 days of the arrival of the goods, but no later than 6 months after delivery of the goods for non-apparent defects. The complaint must be in writing and made immediately upon discovery or when it should have been discovered. Otherwise, the buyer loses any rights to default due to the defect. Complaints do not exempt the buyer from paying the purchase price at the agreed due date. The above point also applies if the products - at the buyer's request - are sent directly to the buyer's supplier for printing, embroidery, etc. It is the buyer's responsibility to inspect the delivery with the respective supplier and before any printing, etc. If the delivered goods are defective, Kentaur is entitled to remedy the defect by repair or replacement within a reasonable time. If the defect is remedied, the buyer cannot claim any defect rights, including proportional reduction or compensation. Kentaur is in no case obliged to pay the buyer's possible costs for identifying defects. In case of rectification and replacement, the sold goods must be returned to Kentaur at the buyer's expense and risk. In no event shall Kentaur be liable for loss of profits, loss of earnings, lost profit, or other indirect losses due to defects. Kentaur's liability for damages can also never exceed the invoice price excluding VAT for the part of the delivery that is defective. Failure to comply with washing instructions stated on www.kentaur.com does not entitle to complaints. Cancellation & Return Standard items, which are understood to be items without logos, prints, embroidery, chips, or the like, can be returned by prior agreement within 15 working days after delivery. The condition is that the items are not wrinkled, washed, faded, or otherwise damaged, and that they are packed in original packaging such as bags. In addition, it is a condition that the items are not discontinued from Kentaur's range. It is also a condition that a return number is obtained from Kentaur's customer service department before dispatch, and that this return number is clearly indicated on the shipping packaging. Otherwise, a 15% deduction will be made upon credit, or the item will be returned to the buyer. Contact your sales representative at Kentaur via email or +45 75 94 11 77. Made for people. At work.

Workwear matters. To the celebrated Chef de Cuisine and the busy waiter. To the dedicated clinic employee and the compassionate healthcare assistant. And to most other people at work. Therefore, since 1990, Kentaur has focused on creating workwear that, in addition to looking good, is also comfortable and functional, down to the smallest detail – giving you workwear you actually enjoy wearing. At the same time, it is our ambition that each and every piece of clothing is created to add value for professional laundries within the textile service sector. Specifically adapted to their business models and requirements. We strive always to maintain a responsible supply chain and act proper in everything we do. We are Danish – in our essence, our business ethics, our organizational culture, and in our relaxed and straightforward dealings. With each other. And with our customers and partners. Bottom line, what we do, we do for people. At work.   Thinking about responsibility. At work. For us, responsibility is more than just a word or a concept. It is our unwavering commitment. You should, therefore, see our Our Choice strategy as a testament to our dedication to crafting workwear that goes beyond mere functionality - it is about responsibility, accessibility, and making a positive impact on our world. When you choose Kentaur workwear, you choose more than just a garment; you choose: High Durability & Long Lifetime: We create products that stand the test of time, wash after wash. Timeless Styles with a Long Product Life Cycle: Our designs are not just for today; they are for the future, ensuring your workwear remains relevant and enduring. Social and Environmentally Responsible Production: We are on a continuous journey to reduce our social and environmental footprints, making every step count towards a better world. Circular Take-Back Solutions: We believe in second chances. Therefore, we are working on finding solutions to give old garments a new life, reducing the impact on landfills. Our Choice strategy is not just about us. It is about contributing to The 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Focused on goals 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and 13 (Climate Action), we are making strides toward a better future. Join us in making every workday not just about what you wear – but about the positive impact you create. To put it simply, we continuously think about our responsibilities. At work.

Our Choice

At Kentaur, we are conscious of how we communicate about our sustainable initiatives and guide you towards products that contain more sustainable materials and/or are produced in a more responsible manner. We admit that it's not easy. The downfalls of greenwashing are numerous, the documentation requirements are high, and the risk of providing misleading information is significant. We strive to be ethical, sincere, and transparent throughout the entire supply chain and towards our customers and the end users of our workwear. We aim to avoid the common clichés when describing our work, as they tend to confuse and mislead. We actively support the collective sustainable development by implementing and embedding the wave of new legislation well in advance. We aim to go beyond what is legally required of us, thereby driving the industry towards a more sustainable direction. It has been, and continues to be, an enlightening journey for us to communicate our work with responsible production and materials. How do we guide you without misleading? On this journey, we receive advice from companies like The Textile Revolution, which provide us with the necessary support and help to act ethically in our communication and guidance.   Beyond Responsible Choice Years ago, we labeled all products containing more responsible materials and/or relevant certifications with a green Sustainable Kentaur-logo. We realized this could be perceived as misleading, so we decided to remove the logo and change the wording to Responsible Choice on the respective products. All in an effort to better guide you in your selection of workwear. However, today even the term Responsible Choice is considered misleading if we are not very specific about what makes the product a more responsible choice compared to products made from conventional materials. We want to be specific, but we also want to make it easy for you to quickly identify the product that is a more responsible choice.   Our Choice Therefore, we introduce Our Choice. Our Choice is the umbrella concept for our work with CSR and sustainability. It replaces both our Work Wear and Care-concept and the Responsible Choice-label on products. Our Choice encompasses our work within: Circularity EU legislation Responsible product development   Our Choice Materials Our Choice Materials encompasses materials we have hand selected due to their characteristics. Whether it be innovation, circularity, social and/or environmental impact.  In other words, it is materials that go beyond the conventional. And they are our recommendation to you. Our Choice Materials replaces the previous classifications but evolves as new and innovative alternatives to conventional textile materials enter the market. Currently, the materials classified as Our Choice Materials include: TENCEL™ Lyocell TENCEL™ Lyocell x REFIBRA™ Recycled polyester and recycled cotton from post-consumer textiles Certified recycled polyester from post-consumer PET bottles, GRS certified or Unifi REPREVE® Fairtrade® cotton Mass-balance sourced Better Cotton Our Choice Materials does not secure a lower impact of the finished product itself as there are other parameters that need to be addressed as well. Therefore, these materials are not a miracle cure and inherently have a negative impact. The current Our Choice Materials are thus only a step in our journey. And we are more than happy to share our knowledge on product impact based on life cycle assessments. Want to find products with Our Choice Materials? Search for them through the search bar or use the filter.  Want to know more about the different materials? Read more here.

Rebranding

Throughout the years, we, at Kentaur, have worked towards building a good and solid reputation so that our customers and end users know who we are, what we stand for, and that our workwear is innovative, functional, comfortable, and of good quality. At the same time, you can be assured that the products deliver what they promise – and that we, as a company, do the same. With our own production, a well-functioning supply chain, and skilled employees in all key positions, all the components are in place to continue this journey. We want to remain your preferred choice, and to ensure this position, we made the decision in 2023 to refine our narrative.   Made for people. At work. Kentaur is still the same company! Created by people at work, for people at work. We are the same, so you do not need to worry about not recognizing us tomorrow. You can still make the same demands of us and our products – in other words, we are giving our ‘packaging’ a lift so that it better reflects the content. Our new brand promise ‘Made for people. At work.’ is our promise to you. And it is supported by our four brand pillars, which embody our DNA and future journey:   Danish at heart. Global in mind. Danish business ethics, values, accountability at every level, and equitable dealings. All are integral to our high professionalism and commitment to providing the best possible service. Always. Moreover, we think and act with an insight and perspective that extends far. And wide.   Driven by the challenges. At Kentaur, we do not believe in stagnation as a state of being. Therefore, we never rest on our laurels but cultivate the next challenge and innovation. This applies to factors that drive the market now and in the long-term perspective in terms of business models and product development. And always with our customers’ success in sight.   Good Look. Great Work. Not all heroes wear capes, but many wear Kentaur. Because our workwear is more than just that. It’s designed to stir emotions and make room for excitement, joy of work, passion, pride, and identity. Kentaur stands for quality, design, comfort, and functionality all in one. And in every single detail.   Fast. Flexible. Fulfilled. Kentaur boasts inhouse production and full control over the value chain from start to finish. This makes us agile, flexible, and efficient. It also enables us to meet our customers’ specific demands and desires.  Moreover, we are the only major producer focusing on light workwear for the Textile Service segment.   During 2024, we will release our new storytelling bit by bit through our written and visual communication. We are excited to share our story with you!

Design

We have never believed in standing still as a state of being. Instead, we continuously challenge the conventional and the common. Always looking at the needs of professional laundries and users with fresh eyes. From new angles. And into new details. When we talk about innovation and progress, we mean serious business. Because we believe in staying at the forefront. Always being steps ahead. Unceasingly attentive to the factors driving the workwear market, now and looking ahead. We want to offer unique designs. Designs that show the effort we put in – all the way through. With us, nothing is left to chance. Every little detail contributes to the whole. Our designs reflect our Scandinavian heritage, where clean lines and simple, timeless cuts form the foundation of our entire range. We need to know the user. To understand the needs of each industry. That’s why we work with focus groups. With people from the industries, we develop clothing for. For them to give us insight into their daily life. And what features their workwear requires to ensure a fulfilling day on the job. Ergonomics and fit are two crucial factors. The clothes must fit – on all kinds of shapes. Therefore, we use our colleagues in the development process. And adjust the clothes according to them. To ensure that everyone wearing Kentaur is wearing it with pride. To ensure comfort, we choose materials that are comfortable against the skin. That lets the skin breathe and regulate body temperature. That are lightweight and thus do not weigh the user down throughout the day. We place pockets where they are easy to reach – without obstructing tasks during the workday. We design cuts in the back and neck areas to enhance flexibility and alleviate pressure. To avoid discomfort and tension and to make the workday more enjoyable. We develop features that make it easy and effortless to work in all kinds of temperatures. That easily can be taken on and off. That do not shift despite workdays with a lot of movement. We think about the environment. And choose new materials based on their impact. To ensure a positive development in our company. And to offer you better alternatives to conventional materials. In short, we are constantly exploring new and smarter ways to create utmost joy and foster growing success. For people at work. Masaaki Minamishima Designer For me, the design process is about creating a fresh and new design that sparks the user's curiosity. A desire to see more. To try the design. It's about creating the perfect balance in the combination of a new detail, a new quality, or a different cut, so the user can still see themselves in the clothes.

Snap-On

With our Snap-On collection, we have redefined workwear for chefs by creating unique chef shirts, jackets, and aprons with ergonomic benefits. The collection was developed in collaboration with a renowned Michelin-starred chef. The goal was to develop a collection that had not been seen on the market before. It should reflect the concept of the restaurant, creating a common thread all the way around. Ergonomics were crucial. Therefore, solutions were sought to make the chef wear more comfortable. The main focus was on the neck area, which can often be uncomfortable when wearing a regular apron. The solution was to develop a completely new apron that does not need to be tied around the neck. Instead, the apron is fastened to the chef's jacket with snap buttons. By relieving pressure from the neck, discomforts such as headaches, neck pain, and numbness in arms and hands can be avoided. The snap button fastening also makes it easy to change the apron if it gets dirty. Thus, you can easily maintain a flawless appearance and focus on what's important - your craftsmanship. Our Snap-On collection offers a variety of colors, designs, and materials that you can use to underline your style. Whether you prefer a classic aesthetic or a modern style, there is a solution for everyone.

Life Cycle Assessment

At Kentaur, we believe that every choice matters, especially when it comes to sustainability. That is why we created Our Choice – our sustainability strategy that guides how we work, from the materials we select to the way we produce. A key part of Our Choice is Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), a tool that helps us measure the environmental impact of our products. By using LCA, we choose to be transparent about our environmental impact data, giving you the information you need to make choices that reflect your values. However, LCA results can be complex and sometimes hard to interpret. While we can present the impact up to the point of distribution, the reality is that the “use phase” - the way the product is used and how long it lasts – plays a critical role in its overall environmental footprint. The more a product is used, the less impact it has per use over its lifetime. For example, a product that may initially show a higher environmental impact during production could ultimately have a lower total footprint if it lasts longer than an alternative product with a lower initial impact. This means that, from a broader life cycle perspective, longevity and frequency of use are key factors. A product with a seemingly higher footprint at the outset may perform better environmentally in the long run due to its durability and extended use. This complexity is essential to understand when evaluating sustainability, as focusing solely on raw material or production phases can overlook the complete picture of a product’s environmental performance. But we understand that an effective way to assess how different products affect the environment is by measuring their impact and comparing key environmental indicators – such as greenhouse gas emissions, water use and land use. Without these measurements, it is impossible to make informed decisions and drive meaningful, positive change. How we measure the environmental footprint of our products We have partnered with Made2Flow to help us calculate the impact of our products, from raw materials to the delivery of our workwear to customers. By examining real world data from our supply chain, supplemented with similar verified data from textile supply chains, Made2Flow calculates the impact of each product across all steps of our supply chain. They follow the global ISO 14040 standard and the European Commission’s PEFCR guidelines. Their work helps keep us accountable by ensuring we share accurate and up-to-date information with you. The data we share with you consists of both primary and secondary data. Primary data makes up about 20% of our total data foundation and is gathered directly from our own supply chain. The rest is validated secondary data, based on previously collected primary data selected for its relevance and representativeness within our supply chain. Our chosen environmental impact indicators We have selected the environmental impact indicators most relevant to the textile industry, focusing on the areas where we have the largest footprint. Since we use both natural and synthetic fibers in production, water and land usage are key factors that significantly contribute to our environmental impact. Freshwater Ecotoxicity (harmful effects of chemicals on freshwater organisms) & Eutrophication (nutrient buildup in water bodies that leads to excessive algae growth) are also included to measure effects on ecosystems and biodiversity. Feel free to read more about our key indicators below, and do not hesitate to reach out if you would like additional information on our sustainability efforts or specific environmental impact indicators. Data for all 16 impact indicators is available upon request. Contact us at [email protected].   Climate change The increase in the average global temperatures for 100 years because of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The greatest contributor is generally the combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas. Divided into three subcategories based on the emission source: (1) fossil resources, (2) bio-based resources, and (3) land use change. Land use Use and transformation of land for agriculture, roads, housing, mining or other purposes. The impacts can vary and include loss of species, of the organic matter content of soil, or loss of the soil itself (erosion). This is a composite indicator measuring impacts on four soil properties (biotic production, erosion resistance, groundwater regeneration and mechanical filtration). Water use The withdrawal of water from lakes, rivers or groundwater can contribute to the ‘depletion’ of available water. The impact category considers the availability or scarcity of water in the regions where the activity takes place, if this information is known. Ecotoxicity, freshwater Potential toxic impacts on an ecosystem, which may damage individual species as well as the functioning of the ecosystem. Some substances tend to accumulate in living organisms. Eutrophication, freshwater Eutrophication impacts ecosystems due to substances containing nitrogen (N) or phosphorus (P). If algae grow too rapidly, it can leave water without enough oxygen for fish to survive. Nitrogen emissions into the aquatic environment are caused largely by fertilizers used in agriculture, but also by combustion processes. Learn more about the other indicators There are a total of 16 environmental impact indicators, and we have collected all the information about the remaining ones for you to explore.

Ergonomic neck design

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, comfort is key. Especially when it comes to the comfort of your workwear. Our ergonomic neck design was developed with this aspect in mind. Tested by the Hohenstein Laboratories and approved by a focus group, our design alleviates the daily discomfort often caused by workwear. By relieving the C7 cervical vertebra, our design can reduce discomfort such as headaches, neck, and shoulder pain, as well as numbness in arms and hands. This is particularly advantageous in healthcare- or other industries where tools need to be accessed quickly but can cause discomfort due to pressure on the neck when wearing them in the pockets of your top.  Our ergonomic neck design is a solution that evenly distributes weight across the entire upper body, thus reducing neck strain. And since it's a patented design exclusively developed by Kentaur, you can be sure you're getting a unique and reliable solution for your needs.

Responsible product development

For us, it is essential to choose just the right materials for our workwear. Our demands go beyond color and pattern. We also place a high value on the material's environmental footprint, its quality, and its suitability for handling by industrial laundries.  We aim to create workwear that brings joy to the user for a long time. Workwear that is put on with a smile and worn frequently in various work situations. That supports the natural workflow with smart, innovative cuts and features. Thus, the choice of material plays a crucial role.  We ensure the best qualities by testing the materials we select. In our tests, we assess aspects such as abrasion resistance, color fastness, and durability. Our workwear must maintain its shape and color – for as long as possible.  To ensure a quality that can be handled by laundries, we also send our materials to be tested by them. This way, together, we can determine whether the material can be included in regular washing procedures.  We only choose to use materials in our production that have passed all our tests. Thus, you can feel confident that choosing Kentaur means choosing an enduring quality. At work.   At Kentaur, you can find workwear in various materials. Get an overview of them below.    Our Choice Materials Our Choice Materials encompasses materials we have hand selected due to their characteristics. Whether it be innovation, circularity, social and/or environmental impact. In other words, it is materials that go beyond the conventional. And they are our recommendation to you.   TENCEL™ Lyocell   TENCEL™ Lyocell is known for its innovative closed-loop production process. Wood pulp is transformed into cellulosic fibers, while more than 99.8% of the solvents are recovered and fed back into the loop, resulting in close-to-zero wastage. According to the Higg Materials Sustainability Index (Higg MSI), TENCEL™ Lyocell has a significantly lower environmental impact than generic lyocell in the categories of abiotic depletion of fossil fuels (up to 39%), global warming (up to 53%), water consumption (up to 69%) and eutrophication (up to 60%).    TENCEL™ Lyocell x REFIBRA™ Technology   To produce TENCEL™ Lyocell with REFRIBA™ Technology, wood and cotton textile waste are used as raw materials. The fibers contain a minimum of 30% recycled materials. TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers with REFRIBA™ Technology offer the same benefits as standard TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. Like TENCEL™, REFIBRA™ is also a trademark of Lenzing AG.    Better Cotton  Kentaur is a proud member of the Better Cotton Initiative. With our membership, we have committed ourselves to improving global cotton cultivation. Better Cotton operates as a mass-balance system. Hence, purchasing a product with the Better Cotton logo is not a guarantee that the product itself contains cotton from Better Cotton-certified farming. However, by buying a product with sourced Better Cotton, you contribute to a more sustainable production ofcotton.  Many of our cotton-containing products are made with cotton obtained via the Better Cotton initiative. However, we only mark products with the Better Cotton logo when cotton is the dominant material in the product.  If you want to learn more about Better Cotton, visit bettercotton.org/ massbalance. We are committed to sourcing 50% of our cotton as Better Cotton by 2025.   REPREVE® recycled polyester (rPES)  REPREVE® is polyester made from used PET bottles. REPREVE® works to create a cycle where waste is recycled.  We are looking for alternatives to recycled polyester from PET bottles as these bottles should be recycled in a closed loop, becoming new PET bottles and not turned into textile fibers. Nevertheless, recycled polyester from PET bottles has a lower environmental impact than virgin polyester. Therefore, Kentaur will continue to use recycled polyester from PET bottles until there is a better solution for us on the market. Finding a suitable alternative to recycled polyester from PET bottles is an ongoing development project.   Materials with recycled textiles  Our materials with recycled textiles contain recycled textile fibers from pre- and/or post-consumer textiles. Pre-consumer textiles are textile waste from production, while post-consumer textiles are textiles that have been worn out in their current form. The material quality is developed for industrial laundries, ensuring good durability and colorfastness. The percentage of recycled material in the fabrics can vary from style to style. If you want to know the precise percentage of recycled material, you can always find this information on the individual product.    Conventional materials Cotton (CO)  Cotton is a soft natural fiber, and absorbs moisture well, giving it a high comfort level. In addition, cotton is very hard wearing, only superseded by synthetic fibers, and thus it is ideal in blends with polyester when a durable, hard-wearing material is required.    Polyester (PES)  Polyester is the most widely used synthetic fiber. When it is blended with cotton, the optimal mix is 65% PES / 35% CO regarding durability and suitability for washing. Polyester enhances the PES/CO blend with qualities such as strength, minimal shrinkage, crease resistance and short drying time. This makes PES/CO blends highly suitable for workwear.    EOL, EME, elastane & mechanical stretch  Many of our qualities are stretch fabrics, as elasticity increases comfort. It is important to ensure high recovery, so that elasticity and comfort are maintained throughout the product’s lifetime. As a rule, Kentaur uses stretch fabrics in which elasticity is achieved through firmly spun yarns and the weaving technique (mechanical stretch/natural stretch) or elastic fibers which can withstand washing in industrial laundries without losing elasticity.    Types of weaving Twill  Twill is a weave characterized by the distinctive slanting stripes, known from the denim fabric used for jeans. The twill construction produces a structured surface and a supple fabric. Many of Kentaur’s fabrics are twill, because this fabric is good for pants, upper parts, and aprons.    Plain & panama  Plain weave is the simplest weave. It is the same on the right side and the reverse side, firm and stable, and produces a strong fabric. Plain weave is normally used for the lighter products such as shirts and functional shirts. Panama is derived from the plain weave, but there are fewer binding points, which produces a softer and more supple fabric. Panama is normally woven in thicker yarns, which combines with the weave to produce a smart structured surface. Panama is used for aprons in Kentaur’s collection.    Pique  Pique is a knitted construction that is known from polo shirts. At Kentaur pique is used in garments in our HoReCa & Retail and Healthcare & Service segments. Knitted fabrics generally increase the comfort for the wearer since they have greater elasticity and allow greater freedom of movement than woven fabrics.  We collaborate with different producers to ensure that pique fabrics can be washed in accordance with ISO 15797 and meet requirements for stability of shape and color fastness.    Dyeing  For Textile Service, good color fastness is important, and the greater part of Kentaur’s collection is therefore vat dyed. Vat dyes give the best achievable color fastness to light, weather and washing, and furthermore, they withstand bleaches better than other dyes, ensuring that Kentaur products can be handled according to ISO 15797 and a variety of hygiene standards. Value for Textile Service

At Kentaur, we strive to understand and make a difference for our customers. This is especially true for the Textile Service- and Industrial Laundering industry.  This cornerstone of our business guides every dedicated employee at Kentaur.   Through our standard program and by winning prestigious projects with our Textile Service customers, we have become a strong brand within Europe.   In all our efforts, we strive to be a reliable partner that delivers quality workwear with unique design. Which is why we from the first point of contact to initial design proposal all the way to the end of contract, want to support your business model through:    Product design & development  We design and develop workwear based on our more than 30 years of experience. This experience does not only support the business model of Textile Service companies but also adhere to the wants and needs of the end users.  We source and develop fabrics and accessories to meet the requirements of durability, functionality, look and feel. Ensuring that the workwear last throughout the contract period and the end users continued satisfaction with their workwear and supplier.  Through design and development, we want to not only meet the current requirements of the Textile Service industry but also make workwear for tomorrow. This is for example how we started creating unisex models in double sizes as we understood the economic considerations many of our customers face.    We have successfully incorporated focus groups of end users into our product development. We invite professionals from the segments we develop workwear for. This approach has led to numerous functionalities and details that lighten the wearers’ workday. This is a key step in remaining relevant and innovative.    Testing  Testing is our assurance that the finished product not only meets the requirement of durability but the look and feel as well. Which is why we rigorously test fabrics as well as products before releasing the finished article of workwear. Among the key aspects we evaluate are durability, shrinkage, and color fastness.  Durability is crucial. We conduct thorough abrasion tests to ensure our fabrics can withstand extensive use without compromising their integrity. This involves simulating everyday wash and wear to see how well the material holds up over time.  Shrinkage testing is another vital component of our quality assurance process. We subject our fabrics to various washing and drying cycles to measure how much they shrink. By understanding the shrinkage behavior, we can also provide accurate care instructions and ensure that our products maintain their shape and size throughout their lifespan.  Colorfastness testing ensures that our fabrics retain their vibrant colors even after repeated washing and exposure to sunlight. We perform rigorous tests to check for color bleeding, fading, and resistance to washing agents. This helps us guarantee that our fabrics remain looking fresh and new for as long as possible.  By conducting these comprehensive tests, we can confidently offer high-quality fabrics that meet the demanding needs of our customers. Our commitment to excellence ensures that you receive products that are not only beautiful but also built to last.  Our test efforts would, however, not be possible without our partner laundries. The knowledge and insight we gain throughout the tests and dialog is a vital part of our product development.   Production facilities  With our own production facilities in Serbia and Poland, we can offer the agility and flexibility our Textile Service customers need. Here, we can react quickly, produce smaller quantities and have the capability to finish stock items in our service center in Poland.     Responsible business model  In all our actions, we strive to maintain a responsible supply chain and conduct ourselves responsibly in close collaboration with partners in the industry and, of course, our customers.  We aim to do more than just comply; we strive to do better.  Kentaur is working on creating circular workwear solutions by developing a take-back solution that keeps products as high up in the waste hierarchy as possible and provides customers with accurate ESG data documentation.   A team of dedicated colleagues focuses exclusively on this important issue ensuring that we actively support collective sustainable development by timely implementing and anchoring the wave of new regulations. We will do more than is legally required of us, becoming the driving force to steer the industry towards a more responsible direction.

Pull-Up cuff

Our Pull-Up cuffs are designed for chefs and service personnel.  In the hospitality industry, it is often necessary to roll up your sleeves. Also, it often needs to be done quickly, as you are in the middle of a task. We have developed our Pull-Up cuffs so that you do not have to roll up your sleeves only to have them fall down shortly afterward. Our Pull-Up cuffs consist of a button and an elastic band at the wrist. When you pull up the sleeve, the elastic tightens, ensuring that the sleeve stays in place and doesn't fall down. With the Pull-Up Cuffs function, you can avoid irritations while working. The function can be found in several of our chef jackets and shirts.   Pull-Up The Pull-Up function is designed to make it easy to keep the sleeve up. This function is copyrighted and, therefore, only available at Kentaur.  With the help of an elastic band placed inside the sleeve and some buttons, you can easily and quickly roll up the sleeve and keep it up. So you can avoid getting your chef jacket dirty, even when carrying boxes.

The Wing Jacket

Our Wing-Jacket is a very popular jacket among chefs and service personnel from various parts of the world, as it merges the simple chef jacket with the classic double-breasted chef jacket. We call it our chef and service jacket because it is also often requested as an element for clothing concepts aimed at retail, catering, and bakeries. The light fabric weight (175 - 180 g/m²) makes the jacket comfortable to wear in often warm environments. It comes with many different details, which overall give it a more relaxed, down-to-earth appearance. The jacket has a single visible snap button at the neck, which helps to make this design truly unique. The Wing-Jacket is available in different qualities and five different colors: white, black, green, sand, and blue.

Washing guide - Garments in 50-70% cotton / 30-50% polyester (cotton rich)

These garments can be washed in a similar way to 65% polyester/35% cotton garments but there are a few things to consider. Differences between 50-70% cotton / 30-50% polyester (cotton-rich) to 65% polyester/35% cotton garments: Because of the increased amount of cotton in the garments, they will take longer to dry, although still quicker than 100% cotton. Colored garments may appear to lose color more quickly as the cotton is removed, although at a significantly lower rate than 100% cotton. Garments made from cotton-rich fabrics will not have the same appearance after tunnel finishing as polyester-rich fabrics. White and colored garments should be separated and classified according to the level of soiling and their color. Polyester/cotton garments must be washed separately from other fiber blends, e.g. 100% cotton or 100% polyester. A) White garments Consult your detergent supplier: In consultation with your detergent supplier, a wash process should be developed to remove the soiling and staining. This should involve the use of a blend of anionic and non-ionic detergents. Soap-based products should not be used, to avoid the formation of scums which cause greying of the garments. Brightening and stain removal: Optical brightening agents can be used to enhance the whiteness if required. Either chlorine or oxygen-type bleaching agents can be used to remove stains; these must be completely removed from the garments (especially chlorine) before the garments are tunnel-finished, to avoid yellowing. Rinsing: There must be sufficient rinsing to remove all chemical residues from the fabric before tunnel finishing. The pH and alkalinity of the garments after rinsing should be checked, not only the rinse water. Softeners: If softeners are used, it must be remembered that excessive softener build-up can contribute to premature damage, like pilling formation or fiber hairiness on fabric surfaces, as well as in some cases causing a yellowing effect. This may affect propensity for soil catching. B) Colored garments Brightening agents: When washing colored garments, the use of optical brightening agents is not necessary. If used, they can give the impression of color loss because of their masking effect.  Bleaching agents: The use of bleaching agents should be avoided except in exceptional cases as they can affect the colour and have the potential to damage the fabric if not fully removed during rinsing. Bordeaux (401) and dark colors: Bordeaux and dark colors are more susceptible to color bleeding. It is important to allow enough water in pre-washing and main wash to make sure that excess dyestuffs from the dyeing process are dissolved and washed out of the garments before wearing. If excess dyestuffs are still attached to the garment after laundering, it can increase the risk of color bleeding during wear. It is recommended to pre-wash bordeaux and dark colors 2-3 times according to specified temperature in a single washing machine where loading capacity and liquor ratio can be adjusted. Loading capacity: maximum 50% Liqour ratio main wash: minimum 1:5 Liqour ratio rinsing: minimum 1:6 C) General The wash load should be roughly 2/3 of the machine loading capacity to allow sufficient mechanical action and to reduce the chance of creasing. Washing: The washing process can be split into the following stages, depending on the level of soiling: pre-treatment of the garment pre-wash – to remove solid matter so that detergents act on the soiling and staining effectively main wash – at a temperature and pH that reflects the level of soiling bleaching for white garments rinsing – which can include anti-chlorine treatments, softening or other additions. Caution: To avoid setting creases (thermal shock) when the wash load is being cooled down from temperatures of 50-60°C, the rate of cool-down should not exceed 3-4°C per minute. It is recommended to have a sufficient rinsing process, when using bleaching and disinfection chemicals in the washing process, to avoid corrosion on metal trims e.g., buttons and zippers. The hydro extraction of the garments should not be excessive, otherwise creases can set in. The extraction should also be set to allow 35-45% water by weight to be left in the garments for optimum tunnel finishing. Press-extraction is not recommended nevertheless if the garments are being press-extracted, the pressure should be kept as low as possible to avoid creasing, breaking of buttons and zippers, and imprinting onto the fabric. Any tumbling to open the press cake should be done at room temperature. Drying: Garments can be dried or finished by tumble drier or tunnel finisher. If they are tumble-dried, the load should only be 50-60% cotton/40-50% polyester, otherwise there is a possibility of over-drying, which can cause damage to the garment or shrinkage problems. The tumble-drying cycle should include a cool-down period so that creasing is avoided. If the garments are tunnel-finished, they should be fed into the tunnel finisher separately from other blends and finishes so that efficient drying and finishing takes place. A fabric surface temperature of 130-140°C is adequate for good appearance. Bone-dry garments (garments where no water is left after washing) must not be tunnel finished as this can cause problems such as shrinkage and scorching (change of surface color and texture due to heat).

HACCP

Workwear is more than just clothes. It is a work tool that is faced with various criteria that must be met before it can be used in a demanding work environment. This is the case for our HACCP collection. A collection of workwear, approved for three different risk groups.   Risk Group 1 – low hygiene risk When the hygiene risk is low (when handling non-perishable food or ingredients) the protective function of workwear in relation to food is minimal. This applies to food that is adequately protected by the packaging or if it is to be further processed later by the producer or consumer. Workwear in this category has generally to be changed weekly; if soiled, it may be necessary to change sooner.   Risk Group 2 – high hygiene risk When the hygiene risk is high (when handling unpackaged perishable foods or ingredients), the protective function must be high, especially if the food is not to be processed further, and microorganisms can multiply in or on the food (for example, for foods that are sold unpackaged). This category also includes processes where the food is processed either mechanically or manually, and where the natural bacterial flora is specifically targeted (for example, by heating, salting, preservation using chemicals, or drying). Workwear in category RC2 is generally to be changed daily; if soiled, it may be necessary to change sooner.   Risk Group 3 – maximum hygiene risk Where there is the highest hygiene risk (handling unpackaged, extremely perishable foods for immediate consumption), an extremely high protective function must be guaranteed, since the foods have not been stabilized by processing, and microorganisms, including viruses, can possibly multiply. As appropriate for the highest hygiene risk, clothing in category RC3 must be changed daily, or more frequently if soiled.

Circular Touch aprons

Circular Touch aprons We aim to close the loop. To extend the life of textiles by reusing them for the production of new items. This way, we can limit the use of new raw materials and minimize our impact.  The first step towards a circular economy has now been taken with our Circular Touch aprons. Aprons made from mechanically recycled cotton and polyester from textiles that have reached the end of their first life cycle. The recycled material constitutes 15 % of the fabric. The aprons come in designs you are already familiar with. Thus, only the fabric is new. In addition, we have attached a small label at the bottom of the aprons so you can clearly see that the aprons contain recycled materials. For us, it has always been crucial to use materials that are suitable for industrial laundering. So that users can enjoy our items for a long time – even after several washes. Therefore, we are very pleased that after a long search, we have now found a material that meets our requirements for high durability, colorfastness, and longevity. And that contains recycled materials. When you choose our Circular Touch aprons, you are choosing a better alternative compared to aprons made exclusively from new fiber materials.

By 2027, the Digital Product Passport (DPP) will be a mandatory feature across the European textile industry, making it easier to track and understand the products we use. But we have chosen to move faster. Rather than waiting for industry-wide deadlines, we are taking proactive steps to integrate DPP technology, helping our customers get the information they need to handle each product correctly and make informed choices.   At the recent Texcare International, we offered an exclusive preview of our DPP demo version – a first look at how our digital chip solution works in real time. This initial version enables digital access to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data for select Kentaur products. By scanning the chip with a smartphone, users are instantly connected to detailed LCA insights, making each product’s environmental impact visible and understandable in a few taps. Unlocking even more product insights The DPP offers more than just environmental data. It opens a world of detailed product insights, accessible at the touch of a smart device. With the DPP, users gain direct access to extensive information, enhancing transparency and understanding about each product they use. Here is a glimpse of what is possible through the DPP: - Supply chain traceability: View detailed supply chain data, tracing the product’s journey all the way back to the raw materials. - Comprehensive product specifications: Access a bill of materials, data sheets, and essential product data, such as weight, packaging weight, and the percentage of recycled material used. - Durability and design insights: Learn about the steps we take to enhance product durability, our design process, and the creative input from our designer Masaaki. - Visual and technical documentation: Explore product images, certificates for materials, products, and facilities, and a designated space for the customer’s chip number, ensuring personalized tracking and transparency. By integrating the DPP, we’re giving users the tools to fully understand and manage our products, bridging the gap between information and action for a better, more transparent future. Kentaur’s DPP project is part of our commitment to Our Choice, our responsibility strategy focused on responsible sourcing, transparency, and corporate responsibility. Our goal is not just to meet industry standards – it is to set them, creating tools that inform, educate, and inspire. As we continue developing the DPP, we envision a future where every Kentaur product carries a digital passport – an invitation to explore its lifecycle and environmental footprint. Stay tuned as we bring this vision to life.

Washing guide

Washing guide Kentaur designs and manufactures work wear that conforms to the user’s requirements as well as the requirements of industrial laundries. We only produce work wear with high quality materials and accessories, and we only supply good, proven and consistent quality that meets the demands of Textile Service. Kentaur does not own its own production facilities, so it is important for us to build strong and trusting relationships with our suppliers and thereby ensure that we are familiar with the entire production chain. We use relatively few and well-known fabric suppliers, as we are confident they can meet our customers' requirements. Kentaur tests all newly sourced fabrics in our own laboratory for e.g. durability, pilling and colour fastness, and it is important for us that our carefully selected materials also function well in the finished product. The industrial laundries are therefore an essential part of our entire approval process in relation to the final selection. For us, it is important that appearance and fit are preserved for as long as possible. We therefore recommend that you follow our laundry instruction.   Please see our washing guides: Garments in 65% polyester/35% cotton Garments in 50-70% cotton/30-50% polyester (cotton rich) Garments with TENCEL™ Lyocell/polyester Garments in polyester Garments in quality 4300

Washing guide - Garments with TENCEL™ Lyocell

There are some things to consider when washing garments containing TENCEL™ Lyocell compared to polyester/cotton blends. In consultation with your detergent supplier, a wash process should be developed to remove the soiling and staining considering the special requirements for fabrics containing TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. A) WHITE GARMENTS Consult your detergent supplier: In consultation with your detergent supplier, a wash process should be developed to remove the soiling and staining considering the special requirements for fabrics containing TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. This should involve the use of a blend of anionic and non-ionic detergents. Soap-based products should not be used, to avoid the formation of scums which cause greying of the Brightening and stain removal: Optical brightening agents can be used to enhance the whiteness if required. Loading capacity: maximum 40% Liqour ratio main wash: minimum 1:6 Liqour ratio rinsing: minimum 1:7 C) GENERAL Lower loading capacity (appr. -20%) and corresponding higher liquor ratio compared to loading capacity of garments made in polyester/cotton blends. Washing: The washing process can be split into the following stages depending on the level of soiling: pre-treatment of the garment pre-wash – to remove solid matter so that detergents act on the soiling and staining effectively main wash –at a temperature maximum 75°C and a high liquor ratio / lower detergent concentration. pH after neutralization should be set between 6.4 and 7.6, please add adequate fresh water during the neutralization process. bleaching for white garments, should be done on low concentration (use other bleaching agents than hypochlorite to avoid cellulose degeneration) rinsing – Use of softeners is not recommended  Caution: To avoid setting creases (thermal shock) when the wash load is being cooled down from temperatures of 50-60°C, the rate of cool-down should not exceed 2-3°C per minute. It is recommended to have a sufficient rinsing process, when using bleaching and disinfection chemicals in the washing process, to avoid corrosion on metal trims e.g., buttons and zippers. The hydro extraction of TENCEL™/polyester garments should not be excessive, otherwise creases can set in. The extraction should be set to allow 30-40% water by weight to be left in the garments for optimum appearance after drying. Drying: The tumble-drying cycle (one dot) should include a cool down-period so that creasing is avoided. The residual moisture after drying should be 10-12%. If the garments are tunnel-finished, they should be fed into the tunnel finisher separately from other blends and finishes so that efficient drying and finishing takes place. A fabric surface temperature of 120-130°C is adequate for good appearance. Bone-dry garments (garments where no water is left after washing) must not be tunnel-finished as this can cause problems such as shrinkage and scorching (change of surface color and texture due to heat).

Circularity

At Kentaur, our primary objective is to produce workwear that lasts. Our garments are designed to withstand numerous wears and washes before reaching the end of their lifecycle. This commitment to longevity is not just about delivering high-quality products; it is also about minimizing our environmental footprint. By creating items that are resilient and long-lasting, we reduce the consumption of raw materials and the production of textile waste.  However, like all textile products, our garments eventually reach the end of their lifecycle. Rather than discarding them, we believe in giving them a second chance through circularity.  That's why we have partnered up with recycling experts who specialize in transforming textile waste into new fabrics.     CIBUTEX  Founded in 2022 by companies like Blycolin, Dibella, Edelweiss, Lamme, and Nedlin, CIBUTEX is dedicated to promoting circularity in business textiles.  CIBUTEX collaborates closely with upcyclers who require significant quantities of B2B post-consumer waste/resource textiles for their upcycling processes. These textiles must be white and composed of 100% cotton or blends with a maximum of 50% polyester.     Renaissance  Like CIBUTEX, Renaissance also reuses our white cotton and polyester textile waste. In 2024, we sent the first cutting waste from production in Poland to Renaissance and are planning to send more in the future.   While not all our garments can be reused through CIBUTEX and Renaissance, we are proud to contribute to the circular economy in every way we can. Moreover, we will continue to work on finding solutions for our colored textiles.     Fabric Cutting waste   Although we aim to use as much of our fabrics as possible when creating new products, we still produce pre-consumer waste in the production process. To make sure that our cutting waste is used in new ways, we collaborate with:    Rester  Rester recycles both post- and pre-consumer waste. The company recovers fibers and turns them into new fibers or various non-woven materials, such as insulation, acoustic panels, and filter fabrics, as well as composite.   In addition to our collaboration with recycling specialists, we are continuously seeking other alternatives to help minimize waste. For instance, we have created bags and other merchandise from discarded fabrics, and aprons and outdoor jackets from cutting scraps. We have passed on discarded fabrics to companies like Vær and Amolia, who have utilized these materials in their production to create shoes and toiletry bags. Moreover, we have donated products, including fabrics, to nonprofit organizations like the Red Cross.    There is still a long road ahead, but our drive to minimize waste and push the industry forward never wavers. At Kentaur, we are sewing the seeds of a more sustainable future, one stitch at a time.

Washing guide - Garments in 65% polyester / 35% cotton

B) Colored garments Brightening agents: Ved vask af farvet tøj, er brugen af optiske lysningsmidler ikke nødvendig. Hvis de bruges, kan de give et indtryk af farvetab på grund af deres maskerende effekt. If they are tumble-dried, the load should only be 65% polyester/35% cotton, otherwise there is a possibility of over-drying, which can cause damage to the garment or shrinkage problems.
